“I like people with depth, I like people with emotion, I like people with a strong mind, an interesting mind, a twisted mind, and also someone that can make me smile.”—Abbey Lee Kershaw (via generichumans)
Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.
“And we should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.”—Friedrich Nietzsche (via mrgolightly)
“I still think it’s important for people to have a sharp, ongoing critique of marriage in patriarchal society — because once you marry within a society that remains patriarchal, no matter how alternative you want to be within your unit, there is still a culture outside you that will impose many, many values on you whether you want them to or not. ”—bell hooks (via kdhume)
“Caring about women doesn’t make me a man-hater. Caring about the rights and welfare of minorities doesn’t mean I don’t care about the rights and welfare of the majority. Caring about immigrants doesn’t mean I don’t care about citizens already here. Caring about the underprivileged doesn’t mean I hate the privileged.”—(via thehumorlessfeminist)
Sperm cells have been created from a female human embryo in a remarkable breakthrough that suggests it may be possible for lesbian couples to have their own biological children.
British scientists who had already coaxed male bone marrow cells to develop into primitive sperm cells have now repeated the feat with female embryonic stem cells.
The University of Newcastle team that has achieved the feat is now applying for permission to turn the bone marrow of a woman into sperm which, if successful, would make the method more practical than with embryonic cells.
It raises the possibility of lesbian couples one day having children who share both their genes as sperm created from the bone marrow of one woman could be used to fertilise an egg from her partner.
Rest In Peace Stuart Walker. A 28 year old, gay man who was beaten and tied to a lamp-post at the earlier hours of Saturday morning. He was then set on fire, and burnt to death. Homosexuality is found in over 400 species, homophobia is found in one. So, which is natural now?
